I believe counseling is definitely very important, but from a legal standpoint I suggest you seek advice from someone who specializes in the field. It's awful that things like that have to happen to people, and I truly hope your friend comes out of things ok (which I know is hoping a lot) and that the is punished and burns in hell for what he did, because that is completely (I know it'll be censored) ****** up.
